BOURBON DAY: Smoked Bourbon Honey Chicken Wings
As we get closer to barbecue season (I say closer as it doesn’t seem to exist at the moment!), ‘Bourbon Day’ seems to be a magnificent excuse to share this mouthwatering recipe from mouthwateringbbq.com, for ‘Smoked Bourbon Honey Chicken Wings’ - feel free to use it with drumsticks instead if that’s your kind of thing!
Cooking Time: Preparation time 5 mins, cooking time 1hr, 35 mins
Serves: 50 wings/drumsticks (depends how hungry your guests are!), very easy
About 50 wings/drumsticks
1/4c All Purpose Rub
16oz BBQ Sauce
1/2c of honey
1/2c of brown sugar
2 tbsps of chili powder
2 tbsps of butter
1 tsp of dried minced garlic
2 tsps of dried minced onion
4oz of bourbon
4oz of hot sauce
Equipment Needed: Saucepan, wooden spoon, basting brush
Combine all sauce ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a simmer. Set aside.
Set up grill (or smoker) for indirect cooking.
Cover wings with rub.
Smoke for about 90 minutes at 225 using fruit woods.
Sear over direct heat for just a couple minutes.
Stir the sauce with the wings and serve!
